Key Specifications:

  1. Frequency Range:
    • Covers frequencies from 100 MHz to 1500 MHz, making it suitable for a wide range of bands, including amateur radio, airbands, and public and commercial communication services.
  2. Design:
    • Omnidirectional: Provides 360° coverage on the horizontal plane with linear vertical polarization.
    • Built with durable, weather-resistant materials like stainless steel, ensuring reliability in harsh environmental conditions.
    • Height: 0.84 m (2.75 feet), compact yet efficient for a broad range of applications.
  3. Performance:
    • Gain: 2.15 dBi.
    • Supports up to 200 W of transmission power, making it ideal for amateur radio use and other medium-power applications.
  4. Applications:
    • Perfect for scanning and monitoring a broad spectrum of frequencies.
    • Widely used in both commercial and amateur radio environments due to its ability to operate across many frequency bands without needing to swap antennas.

As you can see from the photo, it is just a small antenna:

Installation and Adjustments

The Diamond D-190 is engineered for straightforward installation due to its discone structure and compatibility with standard mounting systems. Here's a deeper look into its setup process:

  1. Mount Compatibility:

    • The antenna can be mounted on masts with a diameter typically ranging from 30 to 50 mm, depending on the installation kit used. This makes it suitable for use on standard radio or TV antenna poles, providing flexibility in where it can be installed.
  2. Lightweight and Durable Build:

    • Constructed from stainless steel and anodized aluminum, the D-190 is weather-resistant while remaining lightweight at around 0.9 kg (2 lbs). This allows for easier installation even in elevated or exposed locations, without the need for overly robust support structures.
  3. Installation Procedure:

    • The installation involves the use of two aluminum mounting brackets with bolts and screws for mounting on a pole, supplied with the antenna. The process requires only basic tools, such as a wrench and a cross screwdriver.

  • Calibration: The antenna requires no manual tuning, thanks to its wide-band design, which allows it to cover the full frequency spectrum from 100 MHz to 1500 MHz without adjustments. Additionally, the omnidirectional nature of the antenna ensures 360° coverage, eliminating the need for directional alignment.
  1. Height and Placement:

    • At 0.84 meters (2.75 feet) in height, the D-190 is compact and can be installed in relatively confined spaces, such as rooftops, terraces, or medium-sized poles. Its manageable size makes it easy to handle during setup, while still delivering effective signal reception across a wide frequency range.
  2. Weather Resistance:

    • The D-190 is built to withstand wind, rain, and harsh environmental conditions, thanks to its stainless steel radials and durable materials. It remains stable in strong winds, ensuring consistent performance in various weather conditions.

The input connector is PL-259

Reception and transmission

Good antenna, given the size, with a fairly constant performance on most frequencies. Not very sensitive from 20 MHz to 300 MHz, but excellent from 340 MHz to 1 GHz.

However, it all shows well in the measurements I made. Based on this chart you can evaluate if the antenna will be useful in the frequencies you use.
