Yarrow (Achillea)  is a fairly common perennial aromatic herb, belonging to the Asteraceae family, that is widely used throughout the world as a medicinal plant for the treatment of many ailments for centuries, including malaria, hepatitis, skin diseases.

 There are many species of Achillea, among which:

• Achillea millefolium
• Achillea aucheri
• Achillea biebersteinii
• Achillea coarctata 
• Achillea alpina
• Achillea monocephala
• Achillea eriophora
• Achillea cretica
• Achillea fragrantissima
• Achillea asiatica

The main components found in its extract are the volatile camphor oils, linalool and others and the flavonoids apigenin, rutin, luteolin (1).

Medical

Yarrow extracts have shown a clear anti-inflammatory property with a significant anti-inflammatory effect (2).

Cosmetics

It has multifunctional properties including moisturising, conditioning, antioxidant properties for the skin and anti-dandruff activity.
