American Sniper is a 2014 film directed by Clint Eastwood. It's a biographical drama based on the true story of Chris Kyle, a United States Navy SEAL sniper.

Plot

The film follows the life of Chris Kyle (played by Bradley Cooper), a Texan who enlists in the United States Navy SEALs. Kyle becomes a highly trained sniper and is known for his incredible talent in targeting and hitting long-distance targets.

The plot primarily unfolds during his military service in Iraq, where Kyle leads a team of snipers tasked with protecting American troops and neutralizing enemy threats. Over four tours of duty in Iraq, Kyle becomes known as the deadliest sniper in U.S. military history, with a large number of confirmed kills.

The film also explores the psychological effects of military service on Kyle's life, including his relationship with his wife Taya (played by Sienna Miller) and his attempt to reintegrate into civilian life after returning from Iraq.

American Sniper provides a raw and engaging depiction of war, its heroes, and the challenges they face, while also highlighting the controversies and complex dynamics of the Iraq conflict.

Critics' Reception: "American Sniper" received generally positive reviews, with particular praise for Bradley Cooper's performance. The film was appreciated for its intense and personal portrayal of war and its aftermath, but it also sparked controversy and debate over its portrayal of the protagonist and the war events.

My opinion. Rather, the issue that the film raises, with an Oscar-worthy screenplay, I think is that of reintegration of those who have fought the hard war, the trench war, house to house and who have seen friends fall or with severe impairments, Reintegration into a normal environment, and the real life of the protagonist proves this, is difficult, not only because of the terrible memories, but because of the such absolute contrast between the two ways of life. The script was keen to be timely in reminding Chris Kyle that any slightest injustice or abuse triggered the mechanism of defending the weaker.

Back home, in real life, the real Chris Kyle shot dead two miscreants who wanted to rob him at a gas station. On his end it is known that his killer was a mentally disturbed fellow soldier, one of those he had set out to help.

Long ending of the film with Ennio Morricone's arrangement of "The Silence" that closes the story of the best shooter in the US.
