From an environmental standpoint, lavender is a plant raw material, but real sustainability depends on cultivation, irrigation, yield, distillation, energy consumption, solvents, transport, packaging, and product destination. Essential oils often have a low yield relative to plant biomass, so botanical origin alone is not sufficient to define the environmental profile as favorable.
