Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine or 5HT) is a hormone found in the pineal gland, the central nervous system, the digestive tract and platelets.

It is a neurotransmitter that regulates important functions such as:

mood
sleep
blood vessels

The level and the system of serotonin are different between uommini and women in which the receptors are more consistent.

There are numerous studies on serotonin and on the effects linked to the contrast of depression (1), to diseases related to stress such as psoriasis (2) or hypertension (3).

Small amounts of serotonin can also be found in the peel of the hazelnut (4).
