Superoxide dismutase SOD:
catalyzes the reaction of transforming the superoxide anion radical into hydrogen peroxide. There are 3 different isoforms of SOD, with different localization: mitochondrial, extracellular and cytoplasmic.
It is an important antioxidant defense in the human body.
