Thiacloprid è un composto chimico che deriva da una cianammide e da una 2-cloropiridina.

Apartiene alla classe di insetticidi nicotinoidi, una classe scoperta negli anni '90, che, in virtù della loro azione sistemica, proteggono frutta e cereali da insetti fitofagi.

I neocotinoidi attaccano il sistema nervoso centrale delle larve e ne provocano la loro distruzione.

Alcuni nicotinoidi:

  • imidacloprid protegge isemi
  • thiamethoxam protegge i semi
  • clothianidin protegge le piante
  • thiacloprid protegge le parti aeree delle piante
  • acetamiprid protegge le parti aeree delle piante

Purtroppo i nicotinoidi hanno dimostrato un'azione negativa sulle api, sui bombi e su altri insetti impollinatori (1).

Hanno anche un impatto negativo sull'ambiente (2).

Thiacloprid è peraltro un insetticida efficace contro i ragni (3).
