This study analyzed and studied the influence of polysorbate 60 (Tween 60) to improve the oral bioavailability of morina. The results showed that Tween 60 increased the bioavailability of morina (1).

Novel formulation to deliver genetic material into the rat retina with incorporation of the natural lipid lycopene into niosome formulations based on cationic lipid DOTMA and polysorbate 60 (2).

The aim of the study was to examine the effects of polysorbate 60 and 80 on intestinal lymphatic transport of a poorly water-soluble compound, halofantrine, using a chylomicron flow blocking approach in rats (3).

What is Polysorbate 60

It is an ester of polyoxyethylated sorbitol monoanhydride (i.e., sorbitan).

What is it for?

It is non-ionic surfactant  with lesser quantities of polyoxyethylated esters of sorbitol, emulsifier.

It is used in:

• Food as an additive
• Cosmetic products, creams, toothpastes

In predisposed subjects it could give allergy (1), but it is not considered dangerous.
