Zambia

Zambia, officially the Republic of Zambia, is a landlocked country in Southern Africa. It is bordered by the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the north, Tanzania to the northeast, Malawi to the east, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Namibia to the south, and Angola to the west. The capital is Lusaka, located in the south-central part of the country. Zambia is known for its extraordinary biodiversity and natural landscapes. Among its most famous attractions are the Victoria Falls, one of the largest and most spectacular waterfalls in the world, shared with Zimbabwe. Zambia's population comprises more than 70 different ethnic groups, with English as the official language. Bantu languages are widely spoken throughout the country. The majority of the population practices Christianity, with a variety of denominations represented. Zambia's economy has historically been based on the mining and export of copper, which remains one of its main sources of income. However, the country is seeking to diversify its economy, with agriculture and tourism becoming increasingly important. Zambia gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1964. Since then, it has experienced relative political stability, with regular elections and a peaceful transition of power. Despite its political stability, Zambia faces significant challenges, including poverty, high prevalence of HIV/AIDS, and the need to improve infrastructure and education.
