Panax Ginseng Root Water is the aqueous component obtained from the steam distillation of the roots of Panax ginseng, a member of the Araliaceae family. This water is a byproduct of the distillation process used to extract essential oils and other volatile compounds from the ginseng roots. It retains some of the beneficial properties of ginseng and is used in cosmetic formulations for its soothing and hydrating effects.

Chemical Composition and Structure:

Active Components: Contains water-soluble compounds from ginseng roots, including trace amounts of ginsenosides, essential oils, and other phytochemicals.
Composition: Mainly composed of water with dissolved ginseng-derived compounds.
Structure: Typically a clear or slightly opaque liquid with a characteristic, mild herbal scent.

Physical Properties:

Appearance: Clear or slightly cloudy liquid, depending on the concentration of dissolved compounds.
Odor: Mild, herbaceous aroma typical of ginseng.
Solubility: Completely soluble in water, making it easily incorporated into aqueous formulations.
pH: The pH is usually neutral to slightly acidic, similar to that of water, typically ranging from 5.0 to 6.0.

Production Process:

Steam Distillation: The roots of Panax ginseng are subjected to steam distillation to extract essential oils and volatile compounds. The water component collected during this process is the Panax Ginseng Root Water.
Filtration: The collected water may be filtered to remove any residual plant particles or impurities.
Formulation: The water is then stabilized and incorporated into cosmetic formulations, either as a primary ingredient or as part of a hydrating complex.

Applications:

Skincare: Used in toners, serums, and facial mists for its hydrating, soothing, and revitalizing properties. It helps in balancing skin moisture levels and providing a refreshing sensation.
Haircare: Incorporated into shampoos and conditioners to help nourish the scalp and strengthen hair.
Cosmetic Products: Can be used in a variety of formulations to enhance the overall efficacy and sensory profile of the product.

Environmental and Safety Considerations:

Environmental Impact: The production process should adhere to sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact. Steam distillation is generally considered an environmentally friendly method.
Safety: Panax Ginseng Root Water is generally regarded as safe for use in cosmetics. People allergic to plants or with very sensitive skin should be cautious.

INCI:

Hair conditioning agent. A significant number of ingredients with specific and targeted purposes may co-exist in hair shampoo formulations: cleansers, conditioners, thickeners, matting agents, sequestering agents, fragrances, preservatives, special additives. However, the indispensable ingredients are the cleansers and conditioners as they are necessary and sufficient for hair cleansing and manageability. The others act as commercial and non-essential auxiliaries such as: appearance, fragrance, colouring, etc. Hair conditioning agents have the task of increasing shine, manageability and volume, and reducing static electricity, especially after treatments such as colouring, ironing, waving, drying and brushing. They are, in practice, dispersants that may contain cationic surfactants, thickeners, emollients, polymers. The typology of hair conditioning agents includes: intensive conditioners, instant conditioners, thickening conditioners, drying conditioners. They can perform their task generally accompanied by other different ingredients.

Fragrance. It plays a very important role in the formulation of cosmetic products as it provides the possibility of enhancing, masking or adding fragrance to the final product, increasing its marketability. It is able to create a perceptible pleasant odour, masking a bad smell. The consumer always expects to find a pleasant or distinctive scent in a cosmetic product.

Skin protectant. It creates a protective barrier on the skin to defend it from harmful substances, irritants, allergens, pathogens that can cause various inflammatory conditions. These products can also improve the natural skin barrier and in most cases more than one is needed to achieve an effective result.

Surfactant - Foam booster. It has the effect of introducing gas bubbles into the water and affects the cleaning process by helping to spread the cleanser. Since sebum has an inhibiting effect on the bubble, more foam is produced in the second shampoo.
