Rosa Rugosa Callus Culture Extract is derived from the callus cells of the Rosa rugosa plant, which are cultured in vitro. This extract is valued for its potential skin benefits, including antioxidant and anti-aging properties.

Chemical Composition and Structure:

Phenolic Compounds: Rich in phenolic acids and flavonoids, which provide strong antioxidant activity and help protect the skin from oxidative stress.
Triterpenes: Contains triterpenoids, which may have anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing effects.
Vitamins: Includes essential vitamins such as vitamin C, contributing to skin brightening and collagen synthesis.

Physical Properties:

Appearance: Typically a clear to slightly opaque liquid or gel.
Odor: Mild, fresh floral scent.
Texture: Smooth and easily absorbable, with a non-greasy feel.

Production Process:

Cell Culture: Rosa rugosa callus cells are cultivated under controlled conditions to stimulate growth and production of active compounds.
Harvesting: The callus cells are harvested at the optimal stage to ensure maximum efficacy of the extract.
Extraction: The callus cells are processed using appropriate solvents to extract beneficial compounds.
Purification: The extract is purified to remove unwanted substances and concentrate the active ingredients.
Formulation: The purified extract is formulated into cosmetic products.
Packaging: Packaged in suitable containers to maintain stability and effectiveness.

Applications:

Skincare Products: Used in serums, creams, and masks for its anti-aging, antioxidant, and soothing properties.
Anti-Aging Treatments: Ideal for improving skin elasticity, reducing fine lines, and enhancing overall skin appearance.
Sensitive Skin Care: Beneficial in products designed for sensitive or irritated skin due to its calming effects.

Environmental and Safety Considerations:

Environmental Impact: Production practices focus on sustainability and reducing ecological footprint.
Safety: Rosa Rugosa Callus Culture Extract is generally safe for topical use. It is always advisable to check for any allergic reactions or individual sensitivities.

INCI:

Antimicrobial agent. This ingredient is able to suppress or inhibit the growth and replication of a broad spectrum of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi and viruses by making the stratum corneum temporarily bactericidal and fungicidal.

Antioxidant agent. Ingredient that counteracts oxidative stress and prevents cell damage. Free radicals, pathological inflammatory processes, reactive nitrogen species and reactive oxygen species are responsible for the ageing process and many diseases caused by oxidation.

Adhesive agent. It is one of the methods to improve and optimise the adhesion of the formulation on the skin.

Humectant. Hygroscopic compound used to minimise water loss in the skin and to prevent it from drying out by facilitating faster and greater absorption of water into the stratum corneum of the epidermis. The epidermis is the most superficial of the three layers that make up human skin (epidermis, dermis and hypodermis) and is the layer that maintains hydration in all three layers. In turn, the epidermis is composed of five layers: horny, the most superficial, granular, spinous, shiny, and basal. Humectants have the ability to retain the water they attract from the air in the stratum corneum and have the function of moisturising the skin. They are best used before emollients, which are oil-based.

Skin protectant. It creates a protective barrier on the skin to defend it from harmful substances, irritants, allergens, pathogens that can cause various inflammatory conditions. These products can also improve the natural skin barrier and in most cases more than one is needed to achieve an effective result.
