Acacia senegal is a tropical leguminous plant belonging to the Fabaceae family.
Phytochemical analysis has shown many constituents: flavonoids, terpenoids, tannins, saponins, alkaloids, proanthocyanidins, ascorbic acid, steroids. Many of these components have antioxidant activity. It is used in traditional medical science as an analgesic, emollient, astringent and to combat infectious diseases.
