Argania spinosa L. is a tree native to Morocco and belongs to the Sapotaceae family.
Commercially there are two types of Argan oil: that which is used in cosmetics is obtained from raw Argan nuts by cold pressing or by transesterification if other chemical compounds are added to the oil, while that which is used for culinary edible purposes is obtained from raw Argan nuts.
Cosmetics
Skin conditioning agent. It is the mainstay of topical skin treatment by restoring, increasing or improving skin tolerance to external factors, including melanocyte tolerance. The most important function of the conditioning agent is to prevent skin dehydration, but the subject is rather complex and involves emollients and humectants.
