Carboxymethyl dextran is a chemical compound, the carboxymethyl derivative of dextran. Dextran is a collective term for a branched polymer of glucose bound to alpha-6 glucans with a high molecular weight, a bacterial polyglucan synthesised by various bacterial species including Leuconostoc mesenteroides (a type of lactic acid bacteria), Streptococcus, Lactobacillus. It is produced by fermentation method from soils that have a lot of sucrose.
What it is used for and where
Cosmetics
Film-forming agent. It produces a continuous ultra-thin film with an optimal balance of cohesion, adhesion and stickiness on the skin or hair to counteract or limit damage from external phenomena such as chemicals, UV rays and pollution.
Viscosity Enhancing Agent - aqueous. Since viscosity is important for increasing the chemical and physical stability of the product, Viscosity Enhancing Agent acqueous is an important dosage factor in gels, suspensions, emulsions, solutions. Increasing viscosity makes formulations less sedimentary and more homogeneously thickened.
