Adipic Acid/CHDM/MA/Neopentyl Glycol/Trimellitic Anhydride Copolymer is a chemical compound, copolymer of the monomer trimellitic anhydride and produced with dry solvent in an inert, distilled gas, esterified with catalyst.

Description of the raw materials used in production and their functions:

  • Adipic Acid. A diacid used as a raw material for polyester production.
  • CHDM (Cyclohexanedimethanol). A diol used as a building block in the polyester.
  • MA (Maleic Acid). A diacid used to introduce unsaturated functional groups into the polyester.
  • Neopentyl Glycol. A diol used as a building block in the polyester.
  • Trimellitic Anhydride. Used to provide additional functional groups to the polymer, enhancing its cross-reactivity.

Step-by-step industrial synthesis:

  • Adipic acid, CHDM, maleic acid, neopentyl glycol, and trimellitic anhydride are mixed in a reactor under controlled conditions.
  • The mixture is heated to initiate the polymerization reaction.
  • During the reaction, bonds form between the acids and alcohols, producing the desired copolymer and water as a byproduct.
  • Once the reaction is complete, the resulting polyester can be purified and subsequently cooled and granulated.

It appears in the form of a white powder.

What it is used for and where

Cosmetics

Film-forming agent. It produces a continuous ultra-thin film with an optimal balance of cohesion, adhesion and stickiness on the skin or hair to counteract or limit damage from external phenomena such as chemicals, UV rays and pollution.

CAS: 67970-02-9

Commercial Applications.

Nail Products. This copolymer is frequently used in nail polish formulations. It provides good adhesion, gloss and strength to finished products.

Cosmetics. In addition to nail polishes, it can be used in other cosmetic products as film-forming agents or to improve the texture of a product.
