Vinyldimethyl/trimethylsiloxysilicate stearyl dimethicone crosspolymer is a chemical compound, silicone elastomer with characteristics of high heat resistance and elasticity adaptable to both high and low temperatures, consisting of crosslinked dimethicone copolymers with a bifunctional agent. It is produced by hydroxylation by adding silicon hydride bonds with a catalyst, usually platinum. Crosslinked polymer containing vinyldimethyl and trimethylsiloxysilicate stearyl dimethicone.
Safety. Dimethicone is considered a safe component and impurities, according to the most up-to-date data, are of no health concern.
What it is used for and where
Cosmetics
Absorbent. Absorbs substances dispersed or dissolved in aqueous solutions, water/oil, oil/water.
Bulking agent. It regulates the water content, dilutes other solids, can increase the volume of a product for better flow, acts as a buffer against organic acids, helps to keep the pH of the mixture within a certain level.
Film-forming agent. It produces a continuous ultra-thin film with an optimal balance of cohesion, adhesion and stickiness on the skin or hair to counteract or limit damage from external phenomena such as chemicals, UV rays and pollution.
Viscosity Enhancing Agent - non acqueous. Since viscosity is important for increasing the chemical and physical stability of the product, Viscosity Enhancing Agent non acqueous is an important dosage factor in gels, suspensions, emulsions, solutions. Increasing viscosity makes formulations less sedimentary and more homogeneously thickened.
