Sony Xdr-P1Dbp is an advanced portable radio that supports both DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) and FM transmissions. This means it can receive digital radio stations (DAB) in addition to traditional FM frequencies. However, it does not support the AM band. DAB technology offers superior sound quality compared to analog FM broadcasts, with less interference and a wider choice of radio stations. Sony Xdr-P1Dbp comes in two colors. The radios are identical, but the black version costs about $10 less. Strange, but it does.

  I bought it because I thought it was made in Japan, but I found out it is made in China.

My opinion

Pros

Excellent radio with exceptional sensitivity for such a small and light radio. Easy storage of stations. Effective antenna. The battery lasts about 20 days.

Cons

The battery loses power after about 20 days from charging and this is a big plus, but after a few months you have to recharge it every 3/4 days. The replacement costs about 15$ and is on eBay in China.

• Dimmer always consumes 2.6 W if you don't put an on/off switch on it.
• Dimming is inaccurate and the light flickers for a few seconds at both maximum and minimum, then stabilizes. With a regular dimmer purchased at an electrical store, there is no such thing as flickering.
• The dimmer heats up too much and is constantly between 60°C and 70°C. which, for safety issues should not be allowed. In addition, this heat leads to high and unnecessary power consumption.

Conclusions

Unfortunately, despite the fact that the name is in German and this led me into the mistake of buying it, it is a product made in China, chinese. We keep buying chinese stuff and this is the result.

Bought from Amazon and returned to Amazon.

Amazon. DHL does not pick up

Chronicle of an inefficiency.

I requested on 31-3-2022 the collection of a return for an item and I received confirmation from Amazon by email with the date of collection 1-4-2022 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. I had chosen DHL as the courier.

1-4-2022

I waited all day at home for the DHL courier to come and collect the parcel, but no one came.

2-4-2022 

I received this email from DHL :

Dear Customer, the attempt to collect your return by the DHL courier was unsuccessful. EASY RETURNS at a DHL Service Point To proceed with your return, you can go with the same label to the DHL Service Point that is most convenient for you, check opening hours - also evenings and weekends. Find your nearest DHL Service Point by clicking here.

EASY RETURNS at a DHL Service Point? So I am supposed to look for the nearest DHL address and bring the parcel to them? This behaviour by DHL is unacceptable. 

There is a questionnaire on Amazon's website about the satisfaction of the return procedure and I filled it in explaining the situation.

I called Amazon's toll-free number 800 145 851 which replied "We can no longer receive requests at this number, please press 1 to receive an SMS". I received an SMS saying "Amazon Customer Service: you can contact us by clicking https://amzn.eu/gdrx2pa or by selecting Customer Service on our website or from the Amazon app menu.

"Customer Service" is located at the bottom right of the Amazon page.

Contacted Customer Service and replaced DHL with SDA. The procedure is very easy and I completed it in one minute. 

Interesting note: 

• for DHL collection, you need to print two forms and give one to DHL.
• for SDA collection you do not have to print anything. SDA carries the label.

So the recommendation is to always choose SDA.

I am waiting for the scheduled Amazon pickup on 4-4-2022.

It may happen that, as soon as you dial the phone number you want to contact, on the screen of your smartphone appears the message "Call ended".

Usually this message does not appear immediately, but after an annoying waiting time that can exceed even 1 minute. Very annoying, especially when you are in a hurry to contact that number.

Solutions:

Most likely: The smartphone is outdated. It would be better to update firmware and software. Turn the smartphone off and on again.

Likely: Phone card. The chip is dirty or the card is wrongly inserted. So you need to clean the chip and reinsert the phone card. It's always better to restart the smartphone.

Fairly likely: Lack of signal in the area where you are.

Less likely: The owner of the number you are calling has put your number on the black list.

Unlikely and rare: The firmware of your smartphone is outdated or the firmware update failed.

Let's look at how to use it.

Use your smartphone to search for the WiFi network of THETA V , for exampleTHETAYJxxxxx. 

It usually finds it immediately, otherwise check with "Search Devices".

A password is requested. The password is numeric and is the serial number of the THETA V excluding the first two letters. The serial number is located under the USB connector.

Example: the serial number is YJ 21223355. The password will be 21223355.

The WiFi connection is rather slow and, often breaks, at least in the two samples we tested, while the USB connection works perfectly.

360° shooting starts with the press of the shutter button and there's no need to set the camera's angle of view, tilt or focus. THETA V does it all by itself. Obviously, if you don't want to appear in the scene, raise the camera above your head or control it via WiFi from your Smartphone or computer with applications downloadable from the site.

RICOH THETA V has 4 shooting modes: "Auto", "ISO Priority" and "Manual" .In "Auto" shooting, the camera, in addition to being set to the optimal mode, allows you to perform exposure correction and HDR technique.

All the options listed above can be activated only via the smartphone app, however, since the RICOH app is always up to date, It may happen that the app cannot be installed on older or outdated Apple or Android phones. Error messages say:

(Android) Your device is not compatible with this version.

(Apple) This item requires iOS 12.0 or later.

In addition to seeing the images in static mode, with the app on your smartphone and the app on your computer you can see the image in 360° rotation.

The app that is installed on the computer is very simple and does not allow the options listed above, but only the firmware update that works well and the viewing of photos that need to be uploaded via the "Open" command. The "Drag and drop spherical photo" command doesn't work for me.

Service

Inside is a rechargeable RICOH DB-110 3.6v 1,350mA Li-Ion battery. 

Since the cost of the original battery is high, you can buy a compatible battery with lower amperage. Even 950mA is acceptable.

To replace it, you need to lift the plastic that surrounds the hole for the tripod, unscrew the two upper screws, lift the cover.

Recharging the battery, via the USB cable connected to the computer, is slow and takes at least 4 to 5 hours for a full charge.

Conclusions

Great camera, very funny and useful for those who want to show interiors, show rooms and true 360° panoramic photos.

The answering machine of TIM can be convenient, but the main problem is that the caller's name does not appear but only his phone number. 

To disable the answering machine completely, just type:

and press the call key.
